Hell, don't just stand there dig the thing up, send it to the smelter, stamp some special coins and have the Danbury Mint sell them for 4 times what they are worth.

However, I want to go on record as being opposed to a multi-billion dollar study by NSF, NASA, any University or out of work Doctoral candidates. Just hack off a big sample, do and assay and move on. It is just a rock and looking for alien DNA is not too expensive.

I suspect it can be blamed on Dick Chaney trying to bag a Demo convention.

The area at the time of the impact was inhabited by a beligerent group of conservatives, consequently, no loss to humanity.

Actually it hit a large group of socialists and retarded their efforts sufficiently to get established what Marx claimed was the best system for creating capital. Capitalism.

          The Soviet Union was doomed.

Cool, Imagine how many more of these there are that we haven't even found yet..... And with each discovery, not just meteorites but geothermal vents in the ocean, new species, etc., we are constantly being reminded of how little we really do know about this planet and its history both biologically and geologically.

You are spot on right. We know more about Mars than we do about the Oceans and all that hides in their depths. This is worth study.

Yes, we are ignorant. And after having found a bunch of these, studying them, theorizing about them, studying their impact, etc. , we will be ... still ignorant.
