Science – We plant them in our gardens, grow them in our houses, and buy them from the local greenhouses. But what you don't know may hurt you. Some flowers are more fatal than you think!
And don't forget Foxglove (Digitalis), Datura, Oriental poppy, and many others. Nice to smell and look but don't eat them. :-)
Don't know about the oak reference in the article. Tannic acids can be washed out with water and one species, the Basket oak, is low in tannins and sweet tasting - at least the one I tried.
artzoom,
Thanks!
That is a nice read.
I would also like to add poinsettias. I hear they are fatal to pets!

I thought so too, and didn't buy them for years. But apparently they aren't poisonous at all.
Awfully short list.
Don't be fooled, the number of fairly common plants that are noxious is much larger. Not usually an issue, but if you are having a baby, or small children over to visit, it is wise to check on all your houseplants, and the garden as well. many 'ornamentals' are poisonous to one degree or another, but they are of course attractive, and small children do often like to put the pretty things in their mouths, so... take precautions.

Damn! Rhubarb is so dangerous that it can lead you in coma!! i love it so much...
But only the "blades, whatever that precisely means - though raw wouldn't be tasty for sure - toxic??
A quibble too about mistletoe the berries aren't red they're a waxy off-white colour.
I was about to point out the same thing. I don't know how much I can trust a source that doesn't even get the color of the berries right. And Rhubarb leaves are not blades, (which would mean that they are pinnately veined), but are more like maple leaves in shape and are palmately veined.
Just don't eat the leaves!
I does. Das how I gots liek dis.
