Some anthropologists have pointed out that many of our preferences have their origins in a past so distant that physical attributes played a role assuring the survival of individuals and of the species. Attributes which helped assure survival became preferred, and some still are preferred, even though we do not remember why. On the grassy plains of East Africa, where hominids shared an environment with carnivores, it was an advantage to be able to see over the top of long grasses. Natural selection, Darwin's mechanism for success, favored those with long legs. Today we don't have to peer out over the savanna to avoid lions and leopards, but we still like long legs.

No, longer legs run away faster, leading to increased survival. Angular momentum makes them kick harder, too.

Babies get fed, and understanding that a woman is fertile enough through phenotype is a method of sexual selection.

Physics has an equation for that, doesn't it? M = F x L (moment = force times length) Imagine sort of a rotating motion.

My wife is seven inches shorter than I am, but has legs nearly as long. They are thin with a slight muscular touch. I have been performing an on-going anthropological study on them for some years now. Wow!
Question: Does anyone else think that pants sizes are very irregular these days? I often find that the 32's I go to buy are either toooooo long or tooooooo short. There seems to be no in-between, 32.

Ginger or Maryanne? One had long legs, the other, not so. Maryanne had more staying power, I noticed.

A study? Only in the USA or Poland would they need to have a medical study sooooooo stupid. Long sexy hot shapely legs or short, fat and dumpy. The report was easy but the research laps dances, I mean research labs were challenging.
What's next great looking guys in their 20's with big bucks and great hair verses the short, balding pot bellied old guys that are broke. I wonder who wins that one?
I have a better idea, when can we design the new bra clips. I'd be for supporting that study. This whole report is dumb, all they had to do was ask Larry Flint or Hugh Hefner, I think they both have done enough research on this one for everyone. The lucky buggers....

Women usually select mates older than they are, or closer to their age.
It wasn't a medical study.

I read about this study a couple of days ago on theregister. Dr. Boguslaw has a rather bizarre explanation for the study's results:
"...said legs are linked with "a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes and with higher levels of a body fat called triglyceride, which is linked to the clogging of the arteries, heart disease, strokes and insulin resistance in men."
Riiiight. I remember being young (so far) and when I was perusing a woman's legs not once did her blood-sugar level or her triglyceride level enter into the attractiveness equation. (the BA level was factored in as a forcing:).

My scientific work was "What's better: long or cut hair?" After half-century R&D, result is "longer is better". 8)

legs are overrated... imo breasts are sexier to both men and women due to the whole maternal-psycho-background thing. ;)
