This is a very good preview for the up coming show regarding the effects of just a few degrees on our world.
There are a lot of interactive links on this page with video presenting our current scientists concerns. I found it to be very interesting and wonder if we have passed the point of no return.

secondchance-I'm more apt to believe in climate change, and the definition of global warming includes this. Many places have ice glaciers and alps melting at an accelerated speed...how does that equal the coldest in many decades? might be coldest in some spots that are not typical, and warmer in spots that are not typical, which throws things off balance.
even if they used the words possitive, 100% sure etc..there will always be some who say naaaaa.
using the words they do is being realistic, they cannot predict the future, but they can say these are the possibilities and evidence is pointing in that direction.

Your post is absolutely false, secondchance. There is ABUNDANT evidence that human production of gases and aerosols is a large, if not the largest, factor in our current warming trend.
What difference does it make if it has warmed and cooled before? It has never happened before when there were 6.5B people living mainly in the coastal areas. Every time it has happened before it has been disastrous for the dominant species.

I was at a Super Bowl party on Sunday. Another guest was from Alaska. He tells me that climate change is real. The Arctic is warming and he has seen the changes. I don't know if this is good enough for you but I will listen closely to someone from an area which is among the first to be affected. Climate change will affect different areas differently. It's not as simple as everyplace just gets hotter. Some places get colder. The planet's climate system is complex so the affects of climate change are complex too.

I couldn't get the preview to load, been having a lot of problems with that lately.
Thanks for the heads up EE and if you can remember, remind me so i can be sure not to miss this special on NG. It's still too early in the week to set the reminder on TV.
Thanks for the heads up!

Good find, EE. Thanks. Pretty scary, to see what's coming. I wonder if there's really anything we can do too. I think maybe we're at the point where we just need to be planning what we will do when it happens, rather than worrying about trying to stop it.

Why is a natural warming or cooling scary? The earth has gone through many cooling cycles that have led to ice ages and many warming cycles leading to a warmer climate. The fact that cold kills more species and results in more human misery should be taken into account.

capecoralM-It's scary because life as WE know it wasn't the same during the ice ages,or any other times there were dramatic increases or decreases of temps for a long period of time. Maybe you think you could survive, but what about everyone else?
