Despite having been around for what seems like forever, I still get chills watching the Space Shuttle launch into orbit. I get even more excited knowing that it is docking with a permanently orbiting craft. Space exploration is the great human equalizer. It pulls together scientists from all over the world and challenges our collective notion that we are alone in the universe. Maybe some day other creatures from other planets will push us beyond an Earth-orbiting space station.
