It is believed that the study of quantum mechanics led to the belief in parallel universes because a particle of light can be seen in two different places at once, supposedly. This also led to the notion of the "dead cat in the box" concept, where, the cat is dead in one universe, but, alive in another, so, the observer looks into the box and sees that cat isn't dead, but, alive. IF so, then these quantum computers could be a hole lot of fun (as far as amusement goes), but, could end up making the current Wikipedia look VERY trustworthy by comparison.
