Global warming isn't to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic, concludes a study by a prominent federal scientist whose position has shifted on the subject. Not only that, warmer temperatures will actually reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic and those making landfall, research meteorologist Tom Knutson reported

    FTA:

"What makes this study different is Knutson, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's fluid dynamics lab in Princeton, N.J.

"He has warned about the harmful effects of climate change and has even complained in the past about being censored by the Bush administration on past studies on the dangers of global warming.

"He said his new study, based on a computer model, argues 'against the notion that we've already seen a really dramatic increase in Atlantic hurricane activity resulting from greenhouse warming.'"

"The study, published online Sunday in the journal Nature Geoscience, predicts that by the end of the century the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic will fall by 18 percent.

"The number of hurricanes making landfall in the United States and its neighbors - anywhere east of Puerto Rico - will drop by 30 percent because of wind factors.

"The biggest storms - those with winds of more than 110 mph - would only decrease in frequency by 8 percent. Tropical storms, those with winds between 39 and 73 mph, would decrease by 27 percent."

Ohh my!! But Al Gore just said the opposite regarding the cyclone that hit Myanmar.

saw this earlier today. I am just wondering how Neo and the rest of the tree huggers are going to try and debunk this. The usual "this guy is paid by the big oil companies" attacks arent going to work here. This guy was, until now, one of THEM.

For them to say this guy has no credibility now would reek of hypocrisy....but I guess all liberals reek of that so who knows.

Who is in Denial Now? AP Article Distorts Global Warming Reality as Fact

      Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 11:38 AM

It would seem that the AP, through Seth Borenstein, whom we have come to know as a man who like to whip up some controversy with his articles on the environment and global warming in particular, has done it again.

Not unlike his previous articles, though, he has also exposed - at the very least - as an exaggerator of the highest order.

It has been across the board been BASHED by scientists who regard this article as fear mongering of the worst kind. To me, it is just another indication of just how desperate the AGW proponents are to forward their DYING AGEND

Interesting that they are talking about computer models - which, I think, are the big uncertainty in determining the future weather.

High atmosphere temperatures, sea level temperatures, and deep water temperatures are either not included, are incomplete, or are only estimates from old records.

It would be criminal to enact laws based on the present infomation - note MTB and ethanol.

Time to sit back and be more scientific instead of political. Enough of UN politicians making laws based on garbage in garbage out computer programs and grant opportunities and fancy travel to world class golf courses in the tropics.

OK. Did you read what you said or just cut and paste directly out of an email blast from my grandmother.

Please. You really think that it would be "criminal to enact laws based on the present infomation?" Criminal to do something to positively affect change in the amount of harmful waste products that get expelled into our environment.

What did you think about wiretapping illegally? That actually WAS criminal. But you didn't rally against that.

I find it fascinating that scientists can spend all this time on COMPUTER MODELS, which, after all, are just MODELS, and then have the nerve to argue that governments and people should make decisions that will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, and harm human lives, based just upon these models.

It seems like the height of irresponsibility to attempt to elevate scientific theories and debate into national and international policy. These scientists are allowing themselves to be used by socialists promoting worldwide schemes to seize control of economies, and it appears that some of these scientists do it quite willingly, just as certain scientists jumped on the Nazi bandwagon to promote their racial theories and views on human evolution. I don't consider such people scientists, but polemicists of the worst sort, masquerading behind a facade of 'science'.

At least in this case I give the guy credit for publishing info contrary to what he had been saying before. I wonder how long it will be before someone claims he gets oil and coal funding.

If you want the truth, follow the money. Al Gore is making money hand over fist, in the form of speaking fees. Because he gives the illusion that he actually cares for the environment, he comes across as a knowledgable authority on this particular subject. The hard fact is that Al Gore is more concerned with lining his pockets, than he is controlling the atmosphere.

Does anyone think that humans are that advanced, as to be able to control Mother Nature? We are good, but not that good. If we are to experience a global warming, that is what was intended, and there isn't much we can do to slow it down, much less reverse it. There are far more factors to consider than the greenhouse gases and other human caused elements. But as I said, follow the money...

"If you want the truth, follow the money. Al Gore is making money hand over fist, in the form of speaking fees."

Not just speaking fees. He also makes money selling "carbon credits."

        http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/cover031307...

"Gore buys his carbon off-sets from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, 'an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C.' of which he is both chairman and founding partner."

Notice it is private. That means they don't have to make public annual reports showing how much money they're raking in on the big scheme.

Indeed, follow the money. Gore made hundreds of millions off his investments in Google, he doesn't need the money for his speaking tours. He inherited his money on top of that.

Gore is reflecting the views of 99.9% of the professionals in the field, observing the earth warming up as CO2 concentration rises.

If you are going to follow the money, ask who is funding the attack on science, who are the relativist facists making money on the status quo coal and oil and gasoline burning?

Apply your own standards to your lies and propaganda, neo con facist yellow bellied cowards. Spineless, gutless yellow bellied cowards.

It seems that Algore is the poster child of the money grubbing, self-centered, capitalist pig-dogs that liberals despise with all of their hearts.

        Isn't that some irony?
