Global warming isn't to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic, concludes a study by a prominent federal scientist whose position has shifted on the subject. Not only that, warmer temperatures will actually reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic and those making landfall, research meteorologist Tom Knutson reported

FTA:
"What makes this study different is Knutson, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's fluid dynamics lab in Princeton, N.J.
"He has warned about the harmful effects of climate change and has even complained in the past about being censored by the Bush administration on past studies on the dangers of global warming.
"He said his new study, based on a computer model, argues 'against the notion that we've already seen a really dramatic increase in Atlantic hurricane activity resulting from greenhouse warming.'"

"The study, published online Sunday in the journal Nature Geoscience, predicts that by the end of the century the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic will fall by 18 percent.
"The number of hurricanes making landfall in the United States and its neighbors - anywhere east of Puerto Rico - will drop by 30 percent because of wind factors.
"The biggest storms - those with winds of more than 110 mph - would only decrease in frequency by 8 percent. Tropical storms, those with winds between 39 and 73 mph, would decrease by 27 percent."
Ohh my!! But Al Gore just said the opposite regarding the cyclone that hit Myanmar.

saw this earlier today. I am just wondering how Neo and the rest of the tree huggers are going to try and debunk this. The usual "this guy is paid by the big oil companies" attacks arent going to work here. This guy was, until now, one of THEM.
For them to say this guy has no credibility now would reek of hypocrisy....but I guess all liberals reek of that so who knows.

Debunk it? why? the scientist and others involved in the study still say global warming is happening. Just that they believe that it isn't causing more hurricanes. And many scientists dispute this study for not looking into the intensity, duration and size of the hurricanes, only the frequency of them..

1500 years ago consus and agreement held that the Sun and everything else in the Universe revolved around the Earth. The hoax/superstitution was that the Earth revolved around the Sun.
500 years ago consus and agreement held that the Earth was flat. The hoax/superstitution was that the Earth was spherical.
Today Global Climate Change (misnomer global warming) is a hoax. The position promoted primarily through wingnut political conversations by political hacks who wouldn't recognize the science behind a medicine that cured them of a sexually transmitted disease they contracted from a hooker/transvestite at the RNC convention.

Who is in Denial Now? AP Article Distorts Global Warming Reality as Fact
Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 11:38 AM
It would seem that the AP, through Seth Borenstein, whom we have come to know as a man who like to whip up some controversy with his articles on the environment and global warming in particular, has done it again.
Not unlike his previous articles, though, he has also exposed - at the very least - as an exaggerator of the highest order.
It has been across the board been BASHED by scientists who regard this article as fear mongering of the worst kind. To me, it is just another indication of just how desperate the AGW proponents are to forward their DYING AGEND

You idiot anti-science neo con wanabes ought to do some research into who's strings you are dancing on.
The basis of neoconservatism is an attack on democracy through subversion and control of the media, and an attack on science through propaganda.
Leo Strauss, the son of German orthodox Jews is the father of neoconservatism.
Who do you think provides the air time for Glen Beck and O'Reily? Who pays Rush Lamebaugh? Who pays O'Reily and sets the parameters for that propaganda?
You think you are fighting the left, but your just doing the bidding of the right wing think tanks, and please do some research on who funds the right wing think tanks.
It ain't americans, conmorons.

Interesting that they are talking about computer models - which, I think, are the big uncertainty in determining the future weather.
High atmosphere temperatures, sea level temperatures, and deep water temperatures are either not included, are incomplete, or are only estimates from old records.
It would be criminal to enact laws based on the present infomation - note MTB and ethanol.
Time to sit back and be more scientific instead of political. Enough of UN politicians making laws based on garbage in garbage out computer programs and grant opportunities and fancy travel to world class golf courses in the tropics.

OK. Did you read what you said or just cut and paste directly out of an email blast from my grandmother.
Please. You really think that it would be "criminal to enact laws based on the present infomation?" Criminal to do something to positively affect change in the amount of harmful waste products that get expelled into our environment.
What did you think about wiretapping illegally? That actually WAS criminal. But you didn't rally against that.

I find it fascinating that scientists can spend all this time on COMPUTER MODELS, which, after all, are just MODELS, and then have the nerve to argue that governments and people should make decisions that will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, and harm human lives, based just upon these models.
It seems like the height of irresponsibility to attempt to elevate scientific theories and debate into national and international policy. These scientists are allowing themselves to be used by socialists promoting worldwide schemes to seize control of economies, and it appears that some of these scientists do it quite willingly, just as certain scientists jumped on the Nazi bandwagon to promote their racial theories and views on human evolution. I don't consider such people scientists, but polemicists of the worst sort, masquerading behind a facade of 'science'.

If you want the truth, follow the money. Al Gore is making money hand over fist, in the form of speaking fees. Because he gives the illusion that he actually cares for the environment, he comes across as a knowledgable authority on this particular subject. The hard fact is that Al Gore is more concerned with lining his pockets, than he is controlling the atmosphere.
Does anyone think that humans are that advanced, as to be able to control Mother Nature? We are good, but not that good. If we are to experience a global warming, that is what was intended, and there isn't much we can do to slow it down, much less reverse it. There are far more factors to consider than the greenhouse gases and other human caused elements. But as I said, follow the money...

Not just speaking fees. He also makes money selling "carbon credits."
http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/cover031307...
"Gore buys his carbon off-sets from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, 'an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C.' of which he is both chairman and founding partner."
Notice it is private. That means they don't have to make public annual reports showing how much money they're raking in on the big scheme.

A bit more on the slicksters from the above linked article ...
"But the conduct of Al Gore and Maurice Strong in the capitalist world is one for the books. It's a side of them that may have remained unknown had it not been for the investigative talent of the Executive Intelligence Review (EIR).
"The tawdry tale of the top two global warming gurus in the business world goes all the way back to Earth Day, April 17, 1995 when the future author of An Inconvenient Truth traveled to Fall River, Massachusetts, to deliver a green sermon at the headquarters of Molten Metal Technology Inc. (MMTI). MMTI was a firm that proclaimed to have invented a process for recycling metals from waste.Gore praised the Molten Metal firm as a pioneer in the kind of innovative technology that can save the environment, and make money for investors at the same time."

Interesting observation on speeking for money. I'm just sitting here thinking of people that have done that in the past. Anita Hill, Bill Clinton, Al Gore...funny, but I can't think of a Republican politician that has done that. Not saying that it hasn't happened, just can't think of any.

Yeah, I think the oil companies are making plenty, infact billions a quarter.
Follow the money indeed. Who profits from the status quo?
Can you apply your own follow the money standard to where the neocon propaganda is coming from?
I didn't think so.

Yes, People do affect our environment, but the question is what is significant? There are billions of people, but many trillions of trees, grass and photosynthesis plants. Net effect is beyond us currently. We know that acid rain is affecting the tree line on mountains, but what positive effects of acid rain have we overlooked ? Might it sprout plants that are better at offsetting the negative effects? God has made a incredible system to allow for these things
My brother Graduated from the second rated meteorological school in the country and works for the EPA.He says Global Warming is a "farce" he says all his associates say its a farce including all of his past faculty. This is a group of highly trained people in the field. I think I'll go with what my brother says more than Al GORE who doesn't have this training! What George says is that the other planets in our solar system are following EXACTLY the same warming curve as Earth
& they have no Humans to influence it!

Indeed, follow the money. Gore made hundreds of millions off his investments in Google, he doesn't need the money for his speaking tours. He inherited his money on top of that.
Gore is reflecting the views of 99.9% of the professionals in the field, observing the earth warming up as CO2 concentration rises.
If you are going to follow the money, ask who is funding the attack on science, who are the relativist facists making money on the status quo coal and oil and gasoline burning?
Apply your own standards to your lies and propaganda, neo con facist yellow bellied cowards. Spineless, gutless yellow bellied cowards.
